Abstract

Computer networks play a vital role in supporting communication and data transfer across various sectors. Two commonly used types of networks are wired and wireless, each with specific advantages and limitations affecting Quality of Service (QoS), including parameters such as throughput, latency, jitter, and packet loss. Wired networks generally offer higher stability, faster speeds, and lower latency, while wireless networks provide greater flexibility but are more susceptible to interference. This study aims to compare the QoS performance of both network types using systematic evaluation methods. The results show that wired networks exhibit delay values between 0.643.94 ms and jitter between 0.374.02 ms, while wireless networks experience delays ranging from 5.9612.2 ms and jitter from 3.8812.1 ms. Understanding these QoS characteristics is essential for designing optimization strategies tailored to user needs and operational environments.
