Abstract

BTS (Base Transceiver Station) is a high building that vulnerable to lightning strike. Once the BTS has been struck by lightning, an overcurrent will flow to the system caused by a lightning surge current. This surge current then distributed to the line that connected to the grounding system through a bonding bar i.e. power and radio equipment line. A surge protector devices (SPDs) will be installed in order to protect power and radio equipment line from the damage caused by lightning surge current. This reseach will determine the current capacity of the SPDs by simulating the system. A type of SPDs that will be use in this research is an arrester ZnO.
