Abstract

Flooding is a frequent event. Losses arising from flood damage can be settlements, agricultural crops, and loss of life. Monitoring the condition of remote water level is one attempt to minimize losses due to floods.Remote monitoring method using an ultrasonic sensor to determine the height of the water and microcontroller as the controlling and sending data to the observers that were located far from the location using Short Messaging Service technology. The divisions of water level conditions into six conditions, namely the normal 1, normal 2, beware 1, beware 2, alert 1, and alert 2. Having obtained a condition then the microcontroller will control the mobile phone to send SMS server in the form of the condition of the mobile user. The system is also able to send an alarm if the water levels in the alert condition 2, i.e. by activating the buzzer (alarm).The result of this design shows that SMS is suitable for monitoring water levels. Distance hp server does not affect users sending SMS over the mobile network is still in the GSM Provider.
